The Law of Correspondence is a Universal Law
discovered by Hermes Trismegistus.
The Law of Correspondence states: "As within, so without. As above, so below." What this means is that our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. Therefore: "By changing what is inside of us, our external reality changes too."
When you don't know, or understand, the laws that govern the creation of your reality, then what manifests in your reality seems out of your control and at random. Think about it: Suppose that everytime you try to have a relationship with someone, something inside of you sets off a loud alarm, and warns you about how dangerous relationships are, insinuates that you will be cheated on, reminds you that it has happened before, insists that it will happen again, and guarantees you that you will get devastatingly hurt again. And suppose, that message sparks emotions that make you anxious and paranoid, and that causes you to examine your potential partner's behavior to the extreme, and that causes you to imagine things that aren't really happening. And suppose, you react to those things, and accuse your potential partner of things he or she didn't do, and didn't even think about doing, and that causes your potential partner to leave. At which point, you have successfully destroyed the relationship before it has even had the chance to get off the ground.
Admittedly, this is an extreme scenario. Most people have enough self discipline to draw out the destruction of a relationship over a longer period of time. But the results are the same. Because of the messages coming from inside of you, and your inability to clearly see the situation, you lock yourself into a recurring pattern of behavior and recurring and inevitable results. But that's not all. Based on the Law of Correspondence, because of this negative messenger inside of you, the energy of the messenger and your emotional reaction to it, you are likely to draw someone to you who will cheat on you. If you don't release that energy, and learn, you will repeat the same pattern over and over. And the negative messenger will use that as evidence against you to prove that it was right, and insist even more strongly that you listen and obey when it speaks.
